My great grandmother Sarah Grace Bellett, born March 18,1835, in Devon, England. Sarah Grace married Samuel Snowden on April 4, 1857 in the Parish of Pyworthy. After their marriage they came to Canada and settled in Ontario. I am trying to find out about their families they left in Devon England. Joyce Brownell

JoyceBrownell51 on 2008-02-28 10:03:56I have found Sarah Grace Bellett (I think) with her family on the 1841 census living in Chilverstone, Devon. She is listed as Sarah Bellett age 7 born in Devon. Her parents are listed as Thomas Bellett, 29, born in Blackawton and his wife Joanna, 30 yrs, born in Chilverstone, Devon. On the 1851 Census she is listed as Grace Bellett, age 17, house servant, born Chilverstone, working for John Snowden,farmer, & his two unmarried sisters. I was told by word of mouth that she went out to work at seven years of age. On Sarah Grace (Bellett) Snowden's death registration it mentions her mother's maiden name as Stone? On the 1851 Census her brother's name is Roger Stone Bellett, also a farm servant - age 12 years old
