McClure of Mansfield Ohio

Journal by mmetcalf25

I am looking for any information on a Lillian Marie McClure. She was born around 1925. I believe she may have been born to Alex and Mary (Cobb) McClure. From at least 1932-1935 they lived at 227 Adams Street in Mansfield Ohio. June 22, 1934 Lillian (age 19) gave birth to a daughter (my grandmother) Joan Marie McClure. Joan was later given up for adoption through the Lucas Country Childrens Home (Miami Home) No father was listed however, the adoption center has Joans last name listed as Marsh...possibly her fathers name? I have no information as to when Joan was placed for adoption, however, I do know that in August of 1935 Alex commited suicide by shooting himself with a sawed off shotgun.

My grandmother is now in her late 70's, her adoptive parents have both passed on, neither giving her any information. I have tried to contact the Childrens Center and have not gotten anywhere there...sealed records and all.

I believe Alex and Mary had some sons, Joseph, Alex Hume, and William G. but I have nothing showing they had Lillian except for a phone listing from the years 1932-1935 listing her at their address with their last name. Could she have been a Marsh? I dont know. Did they disown her? Maybe.

If you can offer any information of the McClure family from Mansfield Ohio, originally from Kansas City Kansas please help. I would like to find as much as I can while I can still share it with my grandmother.
