Portwin Marriages in March 1972

I came across this entry in the indexes for Marriages in March 1972 .

PORTWIN Davnet A. ANDERSON Plymouth,7a 1320
Henry F. PLANT Lambeth,5d 108
Henry F. PORTWIN Lambeth,5d 108
Iris P. PORTWIN Lambeth,5d 108
PORTWINE Linda A. MARSHALL Croydon,5a 1661

I wondered on the significance for 3 entries on page 108. Portwin is derived from Portwine. There is no birth record for Henry F Portwin. There is a record for Henry F Portwine b Dec 1920 Holborn.

There is no record of Iris P Portwin or Portwine. There is record for Iris P Plant b Sep 1937 Hackney. There are birth records for about 30 Portwins.

There is a birth record for Victoria Iris Portwin b Dec 1973 Lambeth Mother's Maiden Name Plant and Rebecca Angelina b Mar 1975 Lambeth. Mother's Maiden Name Plant

I would like to be able to see all the entries on page 108 but I don't know where I can search transcribed indexes using a page number. Can you account for this entry or suggest where I can search using page numbers?

I submitted this with the index entry tabulated, unfortunately the system has removed this, making the entry much more difficult to read, you may care to copy the index entry and tabulate it starting with the forenames.

Croydon Portwines

When I first started tracing my family tree using Genes Reunited I found an uncle that I knew nothing about, he was Alfred Lloyd Portwine (1896 ? 1938). I asked my sister about him and she had no knowledge. I found two Doreen Portwines from Croydon. My sister was able to tell me that the two Doreens had met. After my sister died I discovered that the two Doreens were first cousins. One was the daughter of my father and one the daughter of Alfred Lloyd Portwine. I wonder if the illegitimate female Portwines that I come across in Croydon are related to Doreen Portwine and so are cousins of mine.

I was contacted by a Mrs Portwin who directed me to William John (Portwin) who was brought up with my father William James Portwine. Again I had no knowledge of William John, and by this time my sister had died so I could not ask her. It is supposed that the father of William John was my grandfather Alfred Portwine and having deserted his wife left her with an illegitimate child to bring up, echoes of Brian Aldridge in The Archers.

Christopher Portwine

I am interested in Christopher Portwine(s). There are two in England, one in Kent and one in Yorkshire. There is a Chris Portwine in USA, possibly New York, but this may be a Christian Portwine. Are there any more Christopher Portwine(s) in the world, alive or dead? I have family trees for the two English Christopher Portwine(s), these trees go back to the start of registration in England and Wales and include about half of the Portwine(s) born since about 1830. I would like to be able to put all of the English Portwine(s) into family trees and then trace back to the original Huguenots. I am encountering problems with unmarried female Portwine(s) from the Croydon area, there seem to be a lot of them, is it something in the water perhaps. When I've done that I will be able to add in the Portwin(s).
