Searching for Willis Hughs parents

I am searching for the orgin of my great grandfather, Willis Hughes.
He was born in S. C. (?) about 1820. He appears in the 1850 census for Macon County, Georgia along with his wife, Martha and two children, Rebecca and Caroline. His brother James Patrick and family live nearby. Willis appears in the 1860 census in Pickens County, Alabama. Additional children, James Patrick (my grandfather), Betsy, John F. and Polly are shown in this record. There is also a Francis and Eizabeth Hughs living in the household. Another son, William Henry was born about 1863. Willis enlisted in the Confederate army (Co D, 41st Alabama Infantry Regiment on Oct 18, 1863. He participated in the Tennessee campaign and was wounded at Petersburg, Va. on Nov 18, 1864. He died at General Hospital, Petersburg, Va. on Jan 8, 1865. He is buried in a mass grave at Blandford Church, Petersburg, Va.

Does anyone have any information on Willis Hughes parents or place of birth?
