Jpmanc on Family Tree Circles

I have heard many comments about this irish name being either French or basque origin . It's still very unusual in Ireland but has been there for several hundred years.. I did see a family tree showing a peavoy family emigrating to and ending up ontario Canada . Maybe someone who has already done some good work can enlighten me on the name and history
