dob.10 Dec 1891 Chch, NZ. dod.20 July 1968, married HEDGE Charles Henry 18 November 1924. Have details on both her mother's line (De Rose) to 1800 and father's line(Redding)to 1776.
HEDGE- Natthaniel son of William HEDGE and Doritie, England.
Natthaniel(1), spelt in various ways was baptised 02 Feb 1648. Died on 07 Apr 1682. Colchester, ENG. Looking to confirm his marriage, I have one 13 Oct 1664 to Anis SPURGEN, but can not trace any children of this union. Though I did find a search for Natthaneill from 'Paul Hiller Family Tree' on a paid web site. If they see this, may be they can send me a message. Natthaniel(1) is the second child in the family, with Doritha 1640-1642, Mathew 1649-?,and Doritie 1651, all in St.Botolph's Parish Registers.
His son, Nathaniel(2)unknown dates, a struggling weaver, has his first child, a son named(of course) Nathaniel(3) DOB 1710. He was apprenticed in 1728 to John Smorthwaite, a Watch and Clock Maker in Colchester, Essex. He married Sarah Smorthwaite by licence, in 1733. They have ten children,seven do not live to adulthood,Sarah(1)1733-34, Nathaniel(4) 1735-1821, John 1737-1771, Charles 1738-42, Sarah(2)1740-43, James 1743, Thomas 1744-1814, a child 1745, Joseph 1746.
My line runs from Nathaniel(4) HEDGE,m.1765 to Martha GIBSON. Their 5th child, Charles(1)dob1773, m.1807 to Frances DuBois, their only child, Charles(2)dob 1808,was only one year old when his father died in 1809. Charles(2)m. 1833 Louisa Mary BAYNE, died with the birth of their 5th child, Henry, dob.1848, 2nd m.1884 Emily Janette PUGH. Charles Henry (1) died an infant at only 6 months, Charles Henry(2) is the eldest and only son, with four sisters.

Dear Henry,
I received your last- all right at Strathdarr last November but did not reply to it as I was leaving & did not know what address to give you. I left about the middle of Dec & went to the Aramac for Xmas I had not been very well I think a touch of the low fever & the doctor said a change would do one good - the weather has been fearfully hot & dry there is hardly any feed & most of the waterholes have dried up - the glass being from 112(F) to 120(F) in the shade day after day - lately they have had fine rains on the coast but nothing to speak of inland - from the Aramac I went down to Whittown (now Isisford) on the Barcoo River & camped about six weeks waiting for rain which generally comes about this season & I sold my horses as they were getting pretty poor & all the country as bare as a road. From there I went to Blackall & then came on here there has been a little rain here & is a little grass- This town is on the head (or nearly) of the Barcoo. I am starting today towards Adavale on the Bulloo River about 160 miles to try & get some sheep going out to the Gulf country as the best money is to be made there the wages are L2 (pounds) per week going out. If I can't get them I shall try for some fencing about the Bulloo I was working there before & can do pretty well there but not as well as further out - as soon as I get any way settled I will write again & let you know of my address in the mean time of course you can't write.
I expect things will be a little livelier for you living in town I hope you are doing well. Your method of handling horses is in common use here & answers very well- There is a man here(professor he calls himself) in Melbourne giving lessons as a horse tamer. I do not know what method he practices.
I have not heard from any body since I wrote to you & have not written to Charles I have no more news so must conclude

(the youngest child of Alex Hedge and Ellen) Unfortunate circumstances,in 1903,put young Alexander into "The Industrial and Reformatory School" according to the register,his was charge was 'Neglect'. At the age of 6 years,7 months old,is sentenced to seven years. Under parents names it is written 'Unknown' What happened at this time? Where are the two girls? And Ellen? Still no clues on Alex(Snr).
HEDGE: Alexander/Alec, 1890's Queensland, Australia
Alex is brother to Charles, Henry, Louisa and Frances(fem). Alexander was born 10th April 1845, christened 23rd August 1848 at Kennington(Lower Belgrave Place) Married(may be second wife) Ellen BOOTH in Townsville, QLD, Australia 19th May 1891.Their children- Ellen dob 12 May 1892 in Rockhampton, Isabella dob 3 Nov 1894 in Crocodile (now Bouldercombe), Alexander 11 July 1896 also in Crocodile. Alexander was mustering or droving livestock, I do not know much of him after 1896, except his wife Ellen (christened 12 Sept 1858 in Liverpool,Eng)died in Clermont QLD 10 Oct 1921. juner23 on mundia site, commented that in 1902 Alex may have fallen down mine shaft, though I have News article mentioning Alexander HEDGE death 'from extreme heat' in The Northern Miner (newspaper) March 12th 1889.This does not match the birth dates of his children. Still can not find death notice.
