Journals and Posts
I am looking for any details of Captain Walter W Chapman. His mother was Mrs. S. Chapman living at Dunedin in about 1916.
As Lieutenant W W Chapman Reg. No. 11150 embarked in 1916 for Europe. He was wounded 27 June 1917 and received the Military Cross in 1919.
He presented Mr. C. Fieldsend of Caistor, Lincolnshire with a part shell case engraved with the words "from Chocolate Hill January 1916..." What is the story of his war and connection with C. Fieldsend. We have the shell case in our collection and would be pleased to send a photograph.
I lead a group researching the heritage of Caistor, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom. We hold many artefacts, registers and documents.
We are creating a genealogy database of people connected with the town.
