Anders & Anna Lisa Malm Illinois

Hello, My next "brick wall" is the Andreas Johansson Malm. Andreas was born in Hjalmseryd, Jonkoping, Sweden 25 Jan 1828. His mother was Catherina Johansdotter. His father is unknown at this time He married Anna Lisa Jonasdotter (Carlson) on 25 Mar 1851 In Hjalmseryd. Anna was born 8 Mar 1827 in Vrigstad, Jonkoping, Sweden. Her parents were Jonas Carlsson and Lena Maja Jonasdotter.

Andreas and Anna had 7 Children. Carolina Maria,1852-1855; Carolina Sophia, 1855-1929; Carl August b1858; Emma Louisa, 1860-1921; Anna Maria,1863-1939; Samuel Johan, 1866-1866; Augusta Christina, 1867-1925. Andreas and 5 children are listed in Swedish records as moving out to America 23 April 1869. See Genline # 1136.16.3300.

The problem is that Andreas isn't found in any census in the US. Anna Lisa is in Richland Grove Township, Mercer County, Illinois in 1880. Living with he 2 of her children, August and Augusta.
Anna then doesn't show up in any census after that. Swedona Lutheran Church records say Anna died in Sweden in 1899, where in not known. Andreas is not to be found although a researcher said he found Andreas in, I believe, the 1890 Swedish Census in Stockholm.

I have accounted for all the children except for Carl August and would appreciate the help finding where there parents went and died. I would also like to have Augusta Christina (Malm) Peterson's picture. She married my Great Grandfather 27 April 1890 in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois.

Thank you

Anders & Anna Lisa Malm, Illinois "Update"

I'm happy to say I have a partial victory in the Malm family "brick wall". While rechecking past searches I checked for Malm on Find A Grave and, surprise, there on the Swedona Lutheran Church page is the memorial for Anna Lisa Malm and her son Carl. I either misread the church record entry or the writing was poor. She actually died in Swedona, Mercer County, Illinois on Dec 3rd 1899. Her son Carl died Nov 5, 1901. Now I need the same luck in finding Andreas (Anders).

Joshua Stewart PA to Illinois

This is a "brick wall". Joshua Stewart was born abt 1810 in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. He married Mary Jones 11 Feb 1841. She was born in Franklin Co, PA as well in abt 1811.
The have 6 children.
John Wesley, born 18 Dec 1841 in Franklin Co, PA.
Mary Elizabeth,(Lizzie), born 25 Aug 1843, Franklin Co.
Ellen Jane, born 19 Sep 1845, Franklin Co, PA.
Susan Caroline, born 8 Nov 1849, Franklin Co, PA.
Sarah Amanda, (my great grandmother),born 31 May 1852, Franklin Co, PA.
Thomas Rush, born 27 Jan 1855, Franklin Co.

A couple of (brick walls here). Joshua, Mary & family move to Henry County, Illinois between 1850 and 1860. They are in the 1860 Census in Wethersfield Twp, Henry County, Illinois. In 1870 they are gone. Wethersfield is on the eastern edge of Henry County. The children appear in the 1870 Census in the south west section of Weller Township. Henry County living on different farms. The parents are no where to be found. I think maybe Joshua and Mary died by 1870 but I have no death or burial information. I also can't figure out why the kids are that far from where they were living in 1860. I think the family moved to Weller Township after 1860. Don't know how to prove that. They didn't own any land so nothing to check there.

Some things I want to check: Church membership in the area where they were living. Marriage record of Mary Elizabeth, who was married in Weller Township in 1867. Maybe there are parents on the license #. There is a cemetery near where the kids are living on the 1875 plat map which I think is now gone. I'm going check the funeral home in the nearest towns for burial records.

Another "brick wall" is John Wesley Stewart. Joshua and Mary's oldest son. In the 1860 census he is with the family in Wethersfield Township and in 1870 there is a J. W. Stewart working on a farm in Galva Township, Henry County, Illinois. He is a few miles east of the other Stewart children but I have no proof it is the same as our Stewart. He then disappears and I have never found any trace of him. He was supposed to have moved to Nebraska, married(no wife's name) and had 3 children. Alec, Ella and Elmer. I have a death date of 27 April 1927 and died in Beatrice, Nebraska. I have records of 2 other Stewart children moving there as well. No proof of John Wesley anywhere in Nebraska, Iowa or Kansas.

That's my Stewart story. I hope I can find an other family member to fill in the blanks.

Thanks
Steve

Looking for Joshua Stewart burial

Joshua Stewart was born c1810 in Franklin Co, Nebraska. He married Mary Jones in Mercersburg, Pa in 1841. Their children were John, Mary, Ellen, Susan, Sarah and Thomas. In around 1855 they move to Henry County, Illinois and are shown in the 1860 census in Wethersfield Township, Henry County, Illinois. After that Joshua and Mary disappear and the children are found in south eastern Weller Township, Henry County, IL in the 1870 census. I'm looking for the burial place of Joshua and Mary. Any help will be appreciated.

William Coates Smith

I am researching the family of William Coates & Sarah Jane (Liming) Smith. William was born in Burlington County, New Jersey 24 Feb 1804. Sarah was born 8 Dec 1803 in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Their children are, John B., Louisa P, Charles S. K., William F, Emily J, Laura J. There was possibly a Thomas or a Martha as well, Not sure on that. John was born in Burlington, NJ and the others were born in Wayne Township, Warren Co, Ohio where they are in the 1840 census. About 1857 they move to Henry County, IL.

I have most of the information after they get to Illinois but need to find William's parents and place of birth. Census records state that William and Sarah's parents were born in New Jersey. There is a lot of information on the Limings with various spellings but I have found nothing on Williams folks.

Thank You
Steve
