Looking for THOMBS surname information.

My mother's maiden name is THOMBS, pronounced: Toms.
Her father came from Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, England in 1904.
Four brothers came together and settled in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
They started a business, THOMBS Brothers'Builders. The names were Alfred, Albert (Tiny), Edwin, Horace THOMBS.
I think the family name THOMBS originally comes from Wales, but I can't prove it. I know that my grandfather, Ewin James THOMBS married a woman named Charlotte Anne Clayton. Clayton is a Welsh name.
I anyone has any information about the name THOMBS or is related to a THOMBS from this family branch, please contact me.
