My research on the Watson name is concentrated in the Helmsley/Kirby Moorside area of Yorkshire England.

One sister of a direct descendant, Alice Watson born circa 1877 in Murton, Yorkshire emigrated to Canada and I would love to find her family. In the 1901 British census Alice is living with her brother, Thomas, and his family in Balne, Yorkshire, along with her daughter, Mary Josephine Watson, aged 3 months old. Sometime after Alice went and worked in London, leaving her daughter with her brothers family. At a later date she then emigrated to Canada with her daughter. I have a photo sent to family with the name Mary Russell on the back. Did Alice marry and Mary take her step-fathers name or did Mary marry a man named Russell? Would really like to solve this. Any help with this would be greatly received!!
