When corresponding with Klaus, I was told that Kothrade loosely translated to "cottage in the meadow" ...

I started research long ago... trying to find information on my grandfather's family--have the motherload on my grandmothers (Grahek), thanks to the hard work of one of our cousins.

* he was a laborer and worked in an elevator; she was a housekeeper *

SIDENOTES ON ARTHUR:
Arthur, at the time of the WWI Draft lived in Milw and was employed with the American Candy Co. in Milw as a laborer, and had only the first 2 children at the time (Lorraine + Raymond)of the Draft. In 1930 Census, Arthur's occupation was a tally man for a lumber company; Pearl was a mender in a hosiery manufacturing plant. Also, 1930 is the first Census record with Arthur + Pearl..

OTHER SIDENOTES:
Mary, per 1930 US Census, worked as a servant to Ernst Kreite & George Thielen...

OK, as posted in my comments... I found the true parents of ARTHUR J Kothrade...

parents: VALENTINE + JULIA KOTHRADE
... which makes him in the right family--just had the wrong father noted in previous journal.

Looking for info on HENRY KOTHRADE, sr, b abt 1820 in Hannover.
