My Perry ancestors came from Cowes on the Isle of Wight. One son, George Donald Perry, was a seaman on (it is thought a wool clipper) and we believe he left his ship on one of its stopovers in Adelaide, South Australia as I have been unable to locate an official date of landing. One of George's sons went back to England and for many years captained one of the Isle of Wight ferries and was last known living at Southsea, Hants but that was some years ago. When Queen Victoria died on the Isle of Wight, the Perry carpentry firm supposedly constructed the inner coffin. I possess a piece of the scrap silk from the lining which was in the possession of my grandmother until she died. I am happy to communicate with other researchers and add information to this very brief summary. J
