Bamford / McLeod

In looking for my McLeod family connections, I have discovered that my Great Grandmother Catherine McLeod married Thomas Bamford. Thomas father was James Edward Bamford. What I have found interesting is that Thomas' Brothers David and James were both involved in Australia's World War I Campaign. David (or Davey as he was known) returned home a double amputee and lived the remainder of his life in Penshurst, Victoria, Australia. He never married. His brother James also returned home from the war - he also never married. I have recently seen for the first time the Australian Imperial Forces records for both gentlemen. I can't help but wonder what happened to the War medals they were presented with.

After many years of marching with Victorian Pipe Bands in the ANZAC Parade, not ever knowing that I had relatives who were involved, it is exciting to learn so much about that era and that my family history is intergral to the Australia history of the time.

Mary Jane Hamilton - from Tyrone Ireland to Penshurst, Victoria, Australia

I am trying to find out more about the family of Mary Jane Hamilton. She arrived in approx 1863 and married Hector McLeod. She died in 1906 and is buried at the Penshurst Cemetry. Her parents were Alexander Hamilton and Eliza Somerville. Trying to find out more about her parents.
