My ancestor, John Farrell, born in 1763, immigrated from Kilkenny Ireland to Virginia, United States in approximately 1776. He enlisted in the Virginia Regiment and served as a drummer.

Family lore says that he was one of 8 brothers, but I have not been able to track down any information about where he came from in Ireland. Any help would be appreciated.
