Gilbert / Gilbart family of St Erth

I am looking for the descendants of John Gilbert / Gilbart died 1837 ages 76 at St Erth. He married Elizabeth Huthnance (1774-1847) and they had 13 children.

Some of these children emigrated to Austrlaia - in particular:
*Mary (1805-1867) who was married to Thomas Edwards (1794-1871)
*Sarah (1808-1854) who was married to Francis Tuckfield (1808-1865)

I would be delighted to make contact with any fellow researchers.

Robert Henry WHITEMAN (abt 1839 Somersetshire - 1884 New South Wales, Australia)

Robert Henry Whiteman died of pneumonia in February 1884 at Parkes in New South Wales, Australia. He left behind a young widow and one child with another child yet to be born. Robert had married Sarah Jane Way in 1882 at Parkes. He was a miner.

The marriage certificate does not give details of his parents. Similarly details of his parents were not known at the time of his death (informants were from his wife's family). His death certificate states he had been born in Somersetshire, was aged 45 (born about 1839) and had emigrated to Australia at the age of 5 - ie about 1844.

I would be delighted to share information with any other researchers.

George William SYMES 1896-1980

George Symes was born in Dorset. He joined the army during World War 1 and stayed on to make it a career. Later in life he moved to South Australia and died in Adelaide.

George's second wife was my grandmother Kathleen Cudmore, the widow of Geoff de Crespigny.

George's biography is included in the Australian Dictionary of Biography at http://www.adb.online.anu.edu.au/biogs/A160428b.htm

I would be pleased to hear from any researchers of the Symes family.

Philip Lamothe Snell CHAUNCY

Philip Chauncy (1816-1880) was my great great great grandfather. he was born in Buckinghamshire, trained as a surveyor and came to Australia. he lived in South Australia, Western Australia and Victoria.

I ma descended from his daughter Annie Frances who married Philip Champion de Crespigny.

Researching the COLEMAN family from Gloucestershire

Henry Edward Coleman 1802-1884 was a medical practitioner. He lived at Mitcheldean.

There are a number of puzzles about his life. For example his estate was only administered in 1907, 23 years after his death!?!
