Looking for information on Knopf or Gertz family in Russia-Poland late 1800's.

My Grandmother Caroline (aka Karoline)Knopf, b.1877, came to the United States in 1899. I believe her father was Andreas Knopf (ake Andrey Ivanovitch Knop), and mother Louisa Kristen (Cristianova) Gertz daughter of Christian Gertz. Andreas's father is believed to be Johann Knopf (Knop)son of Martin Knopf. Andreas's mother was Gertrude Manthy daughter of Methias Manthy. Caroline's passage record states that she resided in W.Aloka Russia Poland. She married my Grandfather Louis Gertz, b.1870 (aka Ludwig Gertz), a cousin, in Cleveland in 1900. Louis came to Cleveland from Platzk (could also be Plock or Plonsk) Russia Poland in 1896. Louis's parients were Jacob Gertz, son of Chriatian Gertz and Katarzyna Marschalk, and Cristine Gutke, daughter of Christian Gutke and Elizabeth Michelson. Caroline and Louis moved to Gladwin Michigan in 1908. I am looking for any information for eather of their families in Russia Poland.

Kat1958 on 2011-06-02 02:45:47Hi, I am researching my mothers family. They originate from Chelm Poland. Her fathers name was Edward Knopf, I am not certain where he was born. I believe Edward had a few brothers, Otto, and Ruddolf were two. Edward immigrated to Canada around 1931 with his wife Helen (or Helana Knopf maiden name Reichwald) I believe Edward was born around 1900.
WGertz on 2012-01-08 23:28:42Hi,My Grandparients(includes my Grandma Karoline Knopf)came from Wolla Mlocka in ab 1899. Grandma's parients, Andreas and Louise Gertz, were born in Witoszyn & Kotowski in the 1830's and 40's. Andreas's siblings were Elisabeth 1830, Antonina 1832, Christian 1835, Michale 1838, Johann 1838, George 1841, Katharine 1843 and Andreas 1849. At least three of these children moved to Wola Mlocka to raise their family. Their Parients Johann Knopf 1803, and Gertude Manthey 1827 were born in Kotowskie and Szpetial Gorny. Johann had a sister Elisabeth 1808. Johann's parients were Martin and Christine from Szpetal Gorny. The children of Andreas and his siblings mostly immigrated to the states before WWI. Andreas and Wife were deported to the Tambov area near Moscow by the Russians in January of 1915 where they died a couple of months later. The remainder of the family was scattered arround Poland after the war. Some may have ended up south of Warsaw but I have no information on them. There were a number of Knopf familys in the area of Lipno, Serpc and Chiechanow in the 1800's where my research is focused. Hope this os of some help.
