Looking for any info on WHITEFORDS that came to New Zealand

Query by Megamor

Aloha,

I am looking for any info about Charles Frederick Alexander WHITEFORD. He came out to New Zealand in the 1800's - possibly from Scotland. He married Mary Jane LANYON who's family had come out from Cornwall in 1874 and they had my Grandmother Leonie SANDERS.

I am hitting a brick wall in regards to my Grandmothers siblings and that line, even my Grandmothers full name.

I'm also hitting a wall in regards to Charles family, where did he come from, who were his siblings, his parents etc.

I believe he had a sister with a name/nickname like Harlan that married an American.

Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

Meg :-)

Hello Meg,

I have a good deal of information (too much to put here) about my great-grandfather Archibald Whiteford and his descendants. He came to NZ from Scotland in 1862 and married Eliza Ann Evans in Wellington in 1865. They had 5 children, born in Wellington between 1869 and 1886: Janet McKay, Charles Frederick Alexander, Archibald Evans, Christina Caroline, and Helen Grace Chapman (my grandmother). Feel free to contact me on rdjmreeves@xtra.co.nz for further details.
