Looking for Gibson of Nottingham

Query by suzy2711

I am new to this site which I found during research into my father's family tree.
I am hoping that I will be able to make some headway through the group. I will be more than happy to help anyone with their research if I can. My father was born in the Meadows area of Nottingham, but it appears that his great grandfather was born in Kirk Langley, Derby. A branch of the family moved up to Skircoats in Yorkshire and were school teachers.

I am struggling to find evidence of my great grandfather visiting Canada whilst working for Kiddier Brothers who were makers of hosiery. My great grandfather Was a hosiery machine builder.

Also my grandfather Frank Gibson had a sister Irene and two brothers. I can find no trace of Arthur, whom we are told married and had a son. He was thought to have been in the army at some time also.

Any information would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to digging my way back to see where we originated from!

Wow! Thank you very much. I will try looking at the John Arthur b1907 on the census and also Doris Irene.

I'm still absolutely desperate to find evidence of my great grandfather, Henry Thomas Gibson1880 - 1955 visiting Canada around 1900 for Kiddiers we think. We know that he was there because he brought back some souvenir playing cards from the railway there and my dad can remember him talking to him about it.
