Why did my grandfather and his brother fall out?

Article by Anne_Penn

When I first started my research I had discovered that my grandfather had a brother who was never mentioned. That started me researching the family tree to see if I could find the reason for the rift. I have had fun working my way back to GGGfather David Stodart, and have found some decendants of the brother, but still don't know the answer!

Family secrets are hard to un-bury and obnnce you start digging around some people don't like it! What about newspaper archives? If you are lucky it may shed some light on it. They reported just about every tiny thing of interest (or not as the case may be) in those days. Remember there was no radio, TV or interwebs so it was the main source. They may happen to have covered a court proceeding or something. Good luck!

Thanks for your comment - I know I will probably never find out. The the good thing is that it started me researching my family history - many happy hours on the computer! Hope your research is going well. Anne
