My great grandfather as far as I know was from Brazil. I am stumped on where to look next to try and find information. He came to Australia and married, but died and his son, my grandfather changed his name to his stepfathers.
They left Ireland sometime around 1860 and meet on the ship coming from England, so the story goes. They were married in Victoria (Bulla Bulla) around 1861 and eventually moved to Gordon Victoria. (Australia)
I am trying to find out when he died and where he is buried.
On a related matter, can anyone shed light on whether members of the HIRSCH family changed their name to DEER "before or about" the time of Jacob's birth in 1747. Thanks so much..I know that is a lot of research but I dont know where else to look....
