Looking for Lane of Texas

Query by bhowell15

I've been looking for my great-grandfather, William Oscar Lane, born around 1850. Not sure if he was born in Texas, but settled around Travis County, Texas, possibly Bastrop County. Married Mary Medora Moore and had 2 children, Octavia(1870) and James Thomas(1879).

William Oscar disappeared in 1880. The only accurate information I have is his name. His grandson (b.1903) was named after him.

Any help is appreciated.

No, not that I know of. There are alot of african-american Lanes, but have not researched any. Do you have someone that fits Mr. Lane's profile? Thank you for responding.

My grandfather was named Walter Earl Lane, he was from Arkansas, lived in Oklahoma too. I heard he had relatives in Texas. He said his father's name was Oscar Brack Lane. I don't know if there is any relation. Please write to me at tulsaokgirl@hotmail.com. My father never talked about his child hood, his father deserted his mom with 3 kids.

I don't think there is any relation, unfortunately. I appreciate you checking though and wish you luck in finding your Lane.
