looking for William Arrow

can anyone help me he was born about 1849 at O'Connell and married Martha whos name was Lawrence they had two children and he died in Bathurst in 1905 I am decended from his son William Joseph. I would like to know more about William and his parents.

It was early in February of 1904 that William Arrow was reported missing by his family. There were ads in all the newspapers and posted in the stores and pubs across the state. An unsuccessful search was mounted.
At the time of his disappearance William owned a farming property at Yeoval valued around 2,000 pounds and another at Wellington valued around the same. He had several hundreds of pounds in fixed deposit. When he went missing he had a 100 pounds in his pocket. William was known to be eccentric and had spent some time twice previously in the asylum.
In June 1904 Martha Arrow successfully petitioned the court to release funds to appoint a manager for the properties and maintain the family, because of William's mental infirmity and the fact that he had been missing nearly five months.
Almost two years went by without a word on the whereabouts of William. Then, early one Thursday morning on the 21 September 1905 a Mr. Johnson, whilst hunting in the hills behind Yullundry Station discovered a skeleton. There was no clothing, save for a felt hat. The skeleton was declared to be that of William Arrow and it is that skeleton that lies in the grave of William Arrow at Yeoval
I don't know if he was robbed or died of exposure, the 100 quid he had when he left home was not mentioned.

SamMullins on 2014-08-03 15:44:48Hi Lola - I see your posts are from quite a few years back - but hope this is useful. I am a descendant of the Arrow Family of Shere/ALbury in SUrrey and have a large handwritten folder of family research I have done which I am going to dig out (have moved twice and its in a box!!). I in fact went to Shere only last week as I only live about 20 miles away now and had a wander (my Great Granny Annie Arrow is buried in St James Church btw). A lot of people were buried in The Limewalk too in Shere rather than the churchyard - I dont know why - I will look into that or visit the vicar at some point and ask. Best wishes, Sam
