Pattons of Graham Texas

Journal by 3lawsmom

This is my husbands family. I've given up on my side for awhile. I can go back as far as 1596 on his Mom's side. But Dad's is another story. Family lore says he was a horse trader........hmmm, Texas. Trader might be the wrong title. I do know that he left a young widow with three children, John Stewart, Ida Mae and Thomas Andrew. Thomas Andrew was my husbands fraternal grandfather and is also among the lost. His father was I think........William Patton, wife Rachel E. Listed in the 1870 census, and then in the 1880 census she is listed as the wife of A.W. Davis and the children are listed as step-children. Given the ages of the children he died some time after 1876. Rachel is listed as Patton again in 1900 on as living with her son John Stewart Patton in Las Animas, Colorado. If anyone knows or thinks they know this family please let me know. I still have my own family walls to breach.

I'm looking for William J. Patton who was my great-grandfather. He was enlisted in the 7th Calvary, married Julia Duvall, and died in 1902. We believe he was from North Carolina somewhere.
