DENBY 18TH CENTURY

The oldest relative I have found is Richard Denby born June 6, 1835 in Yorkshire England
He married Sarah Morris born March 22, 1840

The story I have is ..
The earliest Denbys arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1849. The family came from Gainsborough, England, a suburb of Sheffied. It is believed that the first to arrive was Joseph Denby. He settle in Burford Ontari. He became a wealthy farmer and brought other brothers from England to assist in the operation of large land holding in and around Burford.
The brothers were Charles, Richard, and Frank.
Frank soon became tired of his brothers tyranical behavior and moved to Paris, Ontario and worked in a textile mill or woolen mill.
Charles also left for the USA and settled in what is now Grosse Pointe or Grosse Pointe Farms. He married and had at least one son, maybe more. During WW1 he received a contract to produce a heavy duty truck for the Government and had moderate success. After the war ended and he marketed the truck for many years, it was known as the Denby.
