Hi,

Some info.

New Zealand Directory 1866-67 (Stevens)
Wellington
Lowater, ?, draper, Wellington terrace.

New Zealand PO Directory 1892-93 (Wise)
Lowater Mrs. Wellington terrace, Wel.

The New Zealand Gazette
Appointment of Postmasters, Post Office and Telegraph Department,
Wellington, 16th May, 1881.
E. M. Lowater ... Post Master at Terrace End in the Postal District of Wellington, from 1 May, 1881.

There is an article in the Empire (Sydney, NSW : 1850-1875)newspaper Wednesday 3 July 1867 on page 3 relating to the floods in the Widsor District and the mames of those flooded out, this included Edward Lowater of the Richmond Road and Argyle Estate. Maybe this is why they moved to NZ!

The digitised copies of the Empire can be found on trove along with many other Australian newspapers. I typed in "Edward Lowater" in the search box.
