... The sudden death of Mr Tetzlaff has deprived the widow and family of eight of their breadwinner. The wife is suffering from an incurable affliction, and the case is a particularly sad one. The deceased was a German, and had a wide experience. He had been contracting about the district for a number of years. He was the soul of good nature, and ever ready to afford any assistance in his power to anyone who might be in trouble. His death is genuinely deplored. As a mark of sympathy with the family in their distress, the jurymen at the inquest yesterday handed their respective fees to the widow

... We have to record with deep regret the death of Mrs A. B. Thomsen, of Dannevirke, which occurred at her residence, High-street, this morning, ager a brief illness, supervening on influenza. The deceased was a resident of Norsewood for many years, but about three years ago with her husband and family removed to Dannevirke, where she has since lived. The late Mrs Thomsen, whose death will be widely regretted, leaves a husband and family of four sons and one daughter to mourn their loss

... Mr. Anton Bernard Thomsen was born in the year 1850, in Christiania, Norway, where he was educated and served his time to the saddlery and upholstery trades. He came to New Zealand in 1873, by the ship ?Hovding,? was employed on Colonel Lambert's farm, and also worked on the railway for some time, before starting in business as a general storekeeper in Norsewood. This business he subsequently disposed of, and settled at Dannevirke. While a resident of Norsewood, Mr. Thomsen was mail contractor between Ormondville and Norsewood for four years, was a member for many years of the Norsewood Road Board, and was also a member of the Norsewood School Committee. He is married, and has four sons and one daughter

WOW! This is great ThankYou so much. My grandmother Beverly Thorby,is daughter of Gwendolin and Walter. She married George Swan, had 4 children one of which is my dad Ian Swan. This answers a few questions for me : )
