Alexander BUCHAN and Margaret MONTGOMERY of Crimondgarth, Aberdeen

Alexander BUCHAN christened 5 Sep 1803 Crimondgarth, Aberdeen, Scotland, died 1877 Scotland, Occupation: Brickmaker. He was the son of John BUCHAN* born 1776 Aberdeen, Scotland [Occupation: Mason, Causewayend] and Elizabeth MILNE* born 1771 Aberdeen, Scotland, died 1859.

My 3g grandparents - Alexander BUCHAN married Margaret MONTGOMERY. Her birth and their marriage details are yet unknown to me. She died in 1878 Scotland. This couple had three known children:-

1.John BUCHAN christened 28 Feb 1830 St John's Episcopal Chapel, Aberdeen, Scotland
2.Robert BUCHAN christened 10 Jul 1831 St John's Episcopal Chapel, Aberdeen, Scotland
3.Isabella Milne BUCHAN (my 2g grandmother) christened 17 Sep 1837 Lonmay Episcopal Chapel, Scotland. Isabella was staying at her grandparents house* on the night of the 1841 Census. More information on Isabella is mentioned in my WOODCOCK journals as she moved to England and married my 2g grandfather George James WOODCOCK who was a butcher in London's East End.

Photograph below is of my maternal grandfather's grandmother, Isabella Milne BUCHAN.

Myras Place - Tides of Time

QUOTE "This file contains data drawn initially from a family genealogy 'Tides of Time' about the family of Capt. J.J. Stanaway, an early pioneer of the Kaipara Harbour of New Zealand. While the data stems from the one original source it has been added to and modified to include many other elements of that geographical area, plus it has been cross-linked with many existing files already on this web site. It will take months to assemble and integrate all these files, and we rely on YOU to correct errors and add material. It is meant to be a resource for you, and your family. Note that this file includes many cases of adopted and/or fostered children. It is not always clear from the file if all of this is correct, or indeed known. We have accordingly used discrete ( * ) codes to indicate the reported status of a person, without necessarily stating what is known."

There is an IGI extract:
John STANWAY brn 27 March 1813, Bapt 26 May 1813 at St Marylebone, St Mary Son of Thomas and Maria
also
John Taylor STANWAY bapt 8 June 1814 at St Marylebone, St Mary
Son of John and Maria
(is this a mis-transcription of Thom?).

No likely ones born in London/SRY in 1841 or 1851 Census but STANAWAY/STANWAY seems a very prevalent surname in the Devon/Cornwall area which are very maritime counties.

...Recent update to this journal, with gracious thanks I have received a photograph of the headstone of Capt JJ Stanaway at Toka Toka with kind courtesy of a MORTON researcher.

There is no death, an angel form
Glides o'er the earth with silent tread,
And bears our best loved ones away,
And then we call them dead.

For him no bitter tears are shed,
His night of pain is o'er;
But weep our lonely path to tread,
And see the form we loved no more."
