Of the 10 children (4 sons) of Benjamin & Isabella Dewsbury (born 1866 to 1882), only 2 daughters survived past 1896 and they never married.

Hi to all that have replied on this thread. What I have is the original King James family Bible of Benjamin and Isabella, printed in 1862. Inside the front cover is a hand written history starting with the birth of Benjamin Dewsbury and Isabella Booth. It documents the marriage of Benjamin and Isabella, all the births, baptisms and deaths of each child and Benjamin and Isabella, which is very sad reading as most of the children died shortly after birth or within months of birth. Gwendoline and her sister Dora having survived the family moved to Australia and took with them this family Bible. Dora died in 1942 while there is no record in the Bible of Gwendolines'death. I assume it was in her possession at her death. Now, my fathers mother Jean, was good friends with a miss Dewsbury and I am told that when Gwendoline died, having no family, bequeathed her estate to Jean, along with this Bible. My Grandmother Jean has long passed and the Bible was passed to my father, who will probably also pass on shortly. So here I Am, not wanting to discard this family treasure of the Dewsbury/Booth lineage. Did Benjamin or Isabella have any brothers or sisters that had family that have survived to this day. Otherwise, any suggestions on what to do respectfully with this Bible.

When I say respectfully, I believe that having survived 155 years, this Bible and this family's story, long after having all passed, is still alive and surviving for a reason.

Yes, Benjamin, at least, had family. He paid for them to join him in Christchurch in 1863.

Isabella was married in a double wedding with her sister Jane Booth (1842-1873) at their parent's home in Rangiora, 19 April 1864. Jane married Frederick Metivier Rose (1842-1864), a Surveyor.
* Jane's husband died of a fever 7 months later, in Nov 1864 aged 22. Jane gave birth to a son, Frederick George Rose, in Jan 1865 but he died in August aged 7 months. Jane died at her father's home 26 Oct 1873 aged 31.

They had a 'high profile' brother George Thomas Booth (1858-1942). In 1883 he married Margaret Jane Hall (1861-1928) and they had three sons and two daughters, between 1884 - 1900. His unmarried daughter, Lyndall Margaret Booth, kept house for him after the death of her mother and her care was recognised when he left his entire estate in trust for her use at the time of his death.

When their father, George Booth, 1st Mayor of Sydenham, Christchurch, died in 1888, there were 3 daughters and 2 sons still alive.
Then there was Benjamin's 4 siblings, including high profile, Rev Henry Rohan Dewsbury. So there will be many descendants in New Zealand.

Of interest, their parents, George & Jane (nee Rickaby) Booth, are buried Plots 130A & 131C, Block O at Addington, Christchurch.
Isabella's husband Benjamin & their children; Ernest, Benjamin, George, Harry, Isabella & Winifred, are buried in Plots 131A & 131B (family plot?)
