Hi there!

I have been doing really well with my "family tree project" until one Mr James Lister (of course with various spellings!)He definitely married Mary Arthur and they definitely jad Jean/Jessie Litster who then married James Lister.

Try as I might, I can get no further with the Lister side of things than James. We have a family story that we were somehow related to the Sir Joseph Lister (sterile surgery) but as yet have been unable to prove or disprove this family story.

Mary Arthur was the niece of Thomas Arthur. He was a draper/merchant and left a 41 page will!

I guess that will do for my first posting. I'm in Western Australia.

Hi all,

I am living in Perth Western Australia and looking into the Scottish side of my family. I am particularly interested in Hallyburton, various spellings of course and the Listers, which appears to have even more spellings than Hallyburton! The Hallyburton Lister link in my tree is a Walter Hallyburton born about 1815 in St Andrews Fife,who married a Jessie/Jean Lister born about 1812 in Auchtermuchty Fife. The certificate I have found states they were married in 1843 in Portmoak. Anyway, just thought I'd say hello and say what my interests were and if anyone happens to coincide: GREAT!
