Edward Patton married Rebecca Hill on December 8, 1856 in Canton, OH. In the 1860 Census in McArthur, Logan, Ohio they appear with their 2 children and a man. In 1870 Census of Taylor Creek, Hardin, Ohio, Rebecca Hill Patton is now Rebecca Lease married to Joseph Lease, with her two Patton children and 1 son that is two years old and has the last name of Lease. I tried to look up the Newcome man who is in the 1860 census and it may be that he was killed in the Civil War. Joseph Lease was wounded in the Civil War but I have no idea what happened to Edward Patton. The census suggests that he was born abt 1837 in Ireland but a 1930 census of Rebecca and Edward's daughter Eva Patton Savage lists her father as having been born "at sea"....which may indicate he was born when they came to the US from Ireland. My great grandfather also named Edward Patton did not talk much about his family, according to my mother so don't know if the great great grandfather Edward Patton died or ran off or what happened.
