HOARDs of Missouri, 1900

My wife's grandfather was adopted around 1900-1910 by a farming family near Clinton, MO. His name was Henry HOARD (later Kinyon). 1900 census lists him as servant in the KINYON household. The 1910 census lists him as Henry Kinyon. Can't find any record of the HOARDs. Anyone have HOARDs in western Missouri in your family tree? This is a frustrating dead-end on one branch of the family. Thanks.

GARDNER in Oklahoma

Old family story has a Gardner serving the the Civil War with a unit from Iowa. He never returned and was presumed dead. Some years later, he reappears at a reunion of his unit.Claims he went west, participated in the Oklahome land rush and staked a claim on land that later became downtown Tulsa or Okahoma City. Married an native American woman and lived in teepee. This is a neat story....if true. Anybody have Oklahoma GARDNERS in your family tree that might matchup with any of this?
