I am Joan Vanleer-Moore. My mother is Minnie Pearl Scruggs-Vanleer, her father is Walter Scruggs from Franklin. His father is Ned Scruggs from Franklin.
I read my cousin Afi-Odelia Scurgges book: Claimin Kin. I am trying to get in contact with her. I am in the process of writing a book, and as the powers to be would have it. I have enbarked upon a search of my ancestors.

I am unable to get birth or death certificiates without knowing when she was born or when she died. Her name was Pearl Minnie Classie Lucy Iva Della Freenam. She married Walter Scruggs.
My mom died 3 yrs ago, she did not have certificiates on her parents or pictures. I am guessing that maybe she was born around 1906 (a pure guess). She was born in, I think Pulaski, Tennessee or Giles county.

I have written a biography on my mother. She did not have birth or death certificiates of her parents. She passed 3 yrs ago, there are no living siblings. I wanted to find out when my grandparents were born so that information in her my book will be as accurate as possible.
He was born possible around 1906 (a pure guess on my part). He and his parents lived in Franklin, Tennessee. My mom said that some people said that their last name actually was Brown and that they changed it to Scruggs.
He move to Nashville, TN and married my grandmother Pearl Freeman. They had 7 children, 5 of which lived. Joan Vanleer-Moore, the daughter of Minnie Pearl Scruggs-Vanleer and Edward Vanleer. I am 55 yrs old.
