Jacob N SKIPPER founded Hanleiter United Methodist Church in Griffin, Ga. The first services were held in the home of Jake N.
Skipper in the old mill village. They were led by
Rev. William R. Hanleiter. The group that gathered
in the Skipper home decided they should build a
church for the Methodists in the western section of
the city. The Rev. Hanleiter gave a tract of land
and contributed a large amount of money. Because of
his generosity, the church was named in honor of his
wife, Mrs. Martha Brewer Hanleiter.

Jacob S. SKIPPER died in the Civil War
Confederate Soldier - State: AL Regiment: 9th Company E
and was layed to rest at Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA
Sec.: Soldiers Sec: W Lot: 470

Mary C. WOODS mother of Jacob S. SKIPPER & mother of Jacob N. SKIPPER
was layed to rest in the Clapp's Factory Cemetery Columbus-Muscogee co. GA. Head stone once read "Died in faith"

I'm also trying to find Gwen Grant Bryan who is listed as a decanted of this line who I believe is still alive?
