Looking for information on Andrew Cunningham of Montrose Scotland and Armidale NSW, Australia.

I am seeking help in finding photos of Andrew Cunningham and his wife Isabella Bowers. Andrew was born in Montrose on 12/4/1831 to Andrew and Martha Cunningham nee McNeill. He had older siblings, William, Margaret, George (died as an infant) and a younger sister Amelia. After settling in Australia, Andrew became a photographer of note in the Armidale area. He was a travelling photograher who moved around northern New South Wales and southern Queensland, often using his children as assistants. His most noted work includes his post-mortem shots of the notorious bushranger Captain Thunderbolt aka Frederick Ward and some photos taken the following day of the re-enactment of Ward's capture. Andrew and his wife Isabella had eight children: Andrew Peter, Eliza Rebecca, Mary Anne, William George, Blanche, Isabella, Sarah Margaret and Edith Marion Cunningham. I would love to have photos of both Andrew and Isabella, any of Andrew's work and also any of his children.

Looking for ancestors of Jonathan Brand from Barrow, Suffolk, England.

I am seeking information/photos from anyone who may be a descendant of Jonathan Brand born 1834 in Barrow, Suffolk. Jonathan was the elder of two sons of Francis and Mary Ann Brand nee Clark (married 5/1/1833 in Barrow). The other brother was James (born 1836).

Jonathan came to Australia on the Ellenborough in 1854 and settled firstly in the Hunter Valley (Maitland & Singleton) and then Tamworth. His wife was Mary Hicks who was born on 7/9/1939 at Croydon, Surrey. They married at St Mark's, Hexham, NSW on 22/7/1856.

Jonathan and Mary had 12 children: Mary Priscilla, Elizabeth, John, Emma Maria, Harriet, James, Hannah, William Ernest Saul, Arthur Francis, Ellen Louisa May and Emily Arletta Agnes. Jonathan died on 1/5/1885 at Tamworth and Mary passed away at Tintinhull near Tamworth on 18/3/1929.

Any help would assist me as I am writing a book on the lives of Jonathan & Mary Brand from their time in England to the adventures in Australia. Mary also lived with her parents and sisters in Pointoise, Paris during the 1840s for about three years while her father worked as a labourer on the rail line heading north out of Paris.

McCarron family of Tyrone and Donegal

I am looking for people who may have photos or information on the Presbyterian McCarrons of Tyrone and Donegal.

My ancestor John McCarron and his wife Jane Houston lived at Fearn Townland, on the County Donegal side of the border with Tyrone. They also had relatives in Listymore townland and the parishes of Ardstraw and Longfield West.

During the Griffith's Valuation of the 1850s, John and Jane's youngest son Robert occupied the same 19 acre farm in Fearn. Robert married Jane Graham and the couple had six children - Matilda (1835-1865), John (1937-1919), William (1839-1929), Hugh (1941-1923), Jane (1843-?) and Robert (1845-?), the youngest two dying as children.

In the 1860s, the family moved to Victoria, Australia, settling first in the Tylden/Trentham/Kyneton area before moving to Kialla West and then on to New South Wales. Three cousins also came to Australia at the same time, the sons of Robert McCarron's nephew John McCarron (1813-1883) and his wife Ann McArthur (1808-1894) of Listymore townland. These men who were therefore grandsons of Robert's older brother, William, were William (1837-1902), Robert (1841-1893) and James (1849-1920).

Robert & Jane McCarron's daughter Matilda married another man from Fearn townland - Joseph Kinkaid and they had six children, five coming to Australia with them in 1865. Sadly, Matilda and her two youngest boys did not survive the trip.

If you think that these people are of your family and you have information or would like me to share what I have, please respond to this item.
