Waters Family History...Starting in 1700

Journal by lovethistrue

For Anyone that it might help I have found my fathers family history book that one of his cousins researched back in the 1980's. It starts with John Waters of Virginia b.1700 d.1765 in King Williams County...he and wife "Elizabeth"(last name unknown) moved to Amherst County, Virginia sometime between 1761 & 1774.

This research goes until around 1980. It includes birth and death certificates, marriage licenses, property deeds, Bible records and personal interview information.

This Waters line was followed through Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia, & Alabama. The earlier dated information is hard to understand at times but if anyone is interested I will be glad to help!!

Hello, this sounds promising to me. I have discovered that many of my ancestors are residing and have resided in these areas of S.C.: Tayors S.C. (Taylors is known for the former Chick Springs Resort.) A doctor by the name of Chicks built built this resort. It was famous for a spring that was said to have water used for health curing and cleansing. It burned down, was rebuilt, burned again and was finally closed. my great great grandfather, William Waters lived in chick springs township. Also my great grandfather James W.Waters, uncles, aunts ect. This was a large farming community. They were fortunate to be able to sale their meats and vegetables to Chick Springs Resort. It has been written that the resort prepared as many as 75 chickens per day. I wonder how many eggs per day? My great great grandfather, William was born in Spartanburg County. He acquired land in Chick Springs, Tayors. Now, this leads me to the main question I have (have been hitting a brick wall). I am wanting to know for sure who my great great great grandfather is. I found a John Waters (1850 fed census) age 45,born abt 1805. His wife is showing Nancy. His oldest son is showing william, 22 yrs of age. William is the name of my great great grandfather. I count back 22 yrs from 1850 - it is showing William being the age of 28. William on the 1880 census is showing his estimated birth abt 32. John Waters 1850 census is showing is showing the 2nd son as John Waters, 20 yrs of age. John is showing another son named Perry (I have not been able to find anything on Perry - census, marriage, death, military. Msybe Perry died. I don't know. Here is something else that has given me suspicion that John Waters 2nd son by his census is showing one of his sons named Perry. I believe there is a connection there somewhere. I have many relatives in Spartanburt, SC, Greenville, SC, Abbeville, SC. Ancestors and relatives seem to mainly located in these areas. I am trying to find if Boardwine Waters (born 1761-1762) and who lived in Southern Spartanburg county. Some of his relatives seem to be buried at Cross Anchor, S.C. cemetery. I was wondering "lovethistrue" if you could help me? How can I get information from the materials that you have. This is lenghty. I pray that I havn't tired you out reading all this. Seems like to are related. If you think the above Waters are related to you, then I would be so glad that I was able to help you. Thank you, Bob.

Sentence should read, William on John's census of 1850. John is showing the 2nd aged son as John, age 20. His brother being named Perry age 16. I could not find anything on John's son Perry. Maybe he is deceased. John's 2nd son, John on his census is showing a son named Perry. Could he have named his son Perry after his brother, Pery? This is where my suspicions are. John could be my great great great grandfather or he may not. Thanks for listening to me again.
Maybe if I can get hundreds of heads together, it will probably work. Thanks again. Bob
