JOHN left Eng. for Nfld & married MARY ANN BALL from Rencontre West, Nfld D/O GEORGE & SARAH BALL originally from Eng. JOHN & MARY ANN'S daughter HANNAH MERCY GALTON/GAULTON b. Jan. 16, 1861 in Channel, Nfld was my 2nd Great Granfmother. She married HENRY PATEY & had my Great Grandmother SARAH JANE PATEY b. Oct. 1881, Cape Ray, Nfld who married WILLIAM SHORT b. Nov. 6, 1879, Cape Ray, Nfld. They had MARY NAOMI SHORT, my grandmother b. March 12, 1905, Cape Ray, Nfld who married JAMES DOUGLAS TAPP b. Aug. 16, 1894, Cape Ray, Nfld who had my mother SARAH JANE TAPP b. Sept. 15, 1924, Cape Ray, Nfld married GEORGE EMMANUEL WALL b. June 10, 1916 in Red Rocks, Nfld. My G G Grandfather JOHN TAPP was born Dorset or Devon, Eng. abt. 1840's & came to Newfoundland which at that time was a British Colony. John, William, Walter & Thomas are common male names in this family. John was a Fisherman & fished the French Shores of Nfld....
